Kids Olympic Games

The reopening date of the school has been postponed. However, Cesar believes learning never stops at CISS. Students have learned a lot and done various research courses via online learning with teachers’ help, as well as parents’ support. Holding the “Kid’s Olympic Games” is the right thing to plan when our students return as result of his research so when the Olympics resume next year our school will be ready!! 

The idea came up from the happiness of snowball fight with parents on holidays as well as the interests in the Olympic Games -- the biggest comprehensive sports meeting in the world and also when he was playing the computer game Mario and Sonic at Tokyo Olympic Games. He searched the history of Olympics online and read many books on sports. The final idea came out: “Through holding the Kid’s Olympic Games, we can connect what we learn in the books with real life, and cultivate our Olympic spirit, to work hard for our health and well-being”

What is the Olympic spirit? His reading said the Motto is “Higher, Faster, Stronger”, while César thinks it’s also relates to the Olympic goals of “Excellence, Respect, Friendship”. That's when Cesar discovered and wrote in his project report that the IB : “Learner Profile-communicators, knowledgeable, risk-takers, inquirers, reflective, thinkers, open-minded, caring, principled, and balanced.” Also has many of the goals of the Olympic Games!

He also learned that the Tokyo Olympic Games has been postponed until 2021, so César has updated his idea: “The first step, we can hold a small Olympic Games when the school reopens, since students have been staying at home for so long, it can get everybody moving. During Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021, we can hold the Kid’s Olympic Games at CISS, firstly invite the students from other international schools of the Group to Shenyang, then extend to other international schools, and we can also invite excellent Chinese athletes to instruct us. Possibly , some Students who get excellent results will have the opportunity to go to the Tokyo Olympic Games for a field trip.”

César’s research report was quite specific, he discussed with PE teacher Paulo, the details of the sports meeting at school, asked Chinese teachers for the information of Chinese athletes, downloaded videos and pictures of Olympic Games and sports on YouTube and put them in his presentation. The most interesting thing is that he made beautiful certificates for every participant of the Kid’s Olympics Games!
